Daemonic Incursion

The 666th chapter only step on the battlefield when a daemonic threat is effective. These rule changes are designed to make your The Terminus Decree games more narrative, presenting the CHAOS DAEMONS - the threat Grey Knights were designed to oppose. However you can stick to normal Acolyte rules.

INCURSION LEVEL

Select Mark Of Chaos, daemons of which can incurse the killzone in scenarios. If you select kt3-mark-undividedCHAOS UNDIVIDED, that means you can use any daemons. In the Campaign, whenever it is required to set up CHAOS DAEMONS operatives in the killzone, set up operatives with the selected mark.

Write up and track the Incursion Level throughout your campaign, initial Incursion Level is 1. When the Incursion Level reaches 0, the Incursion is over. When the Incursion Level reaches 20, the planet is done - this may impact the Campaign, and even make it failed.

To track the changes in Incursion Level, consult the following table:

All CHAOS DAEMONS HERALD operatives in the killzone were incapacitated -1
Any other CHAOS DAEMON operatives, that were in the killzone, survived the scenario. +1
All CHAOS DAEMON operatives in the killzone (if there were any) incapacitated -1
All friendly operatives were incapacitated during the scenario. +1
All friendly FOLLOWER and AUXILIA operatives, that were set up in the killzone while there were any CHAOS DAEMON operatives, were incapacitated. -1 to a minimum of 1
Any friendly FOLLOWER or AUXILIA operative survived the scenario in whicn there were any CHAOS DAEMONS operatives. +1
Any clues were found in the killzone. Game Master decides
A GREATER DAEMON operative was incapacitated. -2

INVESTIGATION TABLE

Replace Investigation Table rolls as follows:

D10 Effect
2 Protective Studies: If current Incursion Level is 2 to 5, decrease it by 1. If current Incursion Level is 6 or more, decrease it by 2 instead.
7 Noctilith Artifacts: Upcoming Scenario won't increase the Incursion Level.
10 True Name Uncovered: Increase the Incursion Level to 12, but if players incpacitate all the GREATER DAEMON operatives in the upcoming scenario, -12 Incursion Level (instead of -2).

THREAT AND RESPONSE

The following table is balanced for 2-3 players, upscale or downscale it if required.

Whenever enemy operatives are set up in the killzone, follow the alterations from the table below:

4-5 In the upcoming scenario, replace D3 enemy operatives with CHAOS DAEMONS. Players can take additional 2EP of equipment
6-7 In the upcoming scenario, add 3 CHAOS DAEMONS operatives. Add 1 to scenario DV per player
8-9 In the upcoming scenario, add 6 CHAOS DAEMONS operatives, one of which is HERALD. Add 2 to scenario DV per player
10+ The option above, plus for each Enemy Reinforcements event, set up 3 additional CHAOS DAEMONS operatives. The option above, and players can take additional 2EP of equipment
12+ The option above, plus add a GREATER DAEMON operative for each 2 levels above 10. The option above, and Terminator Armour is available for GREY KNIGHT operatives.

INCURSION REWARDS

When an Incursion is over, each player rolls a D10 to determine the reward:

1 Equipment - True Name Shard: In the next Incursion, whenever this operative incapacitates the Greater Daemon, the Incursion is over when that scenario ends. That equipment is then lost.
2 Honored Title - Servant of the Throne: once per scenario, when this operative is a target of ranged attack, you can select to use this ability. If you do, ignore any Piercing weapon rules.
3 Wargear - Chapter relic: This operative can select one chapter relic to have.
4 Honoured Title - Nemesis Lord: This operative always has access to Terminator Armour, and it costs 6EP.
5 Equipment - Deluminator Of Majesty: once per scenario, when this operative shoots an enemy DAEMON operative, instead of inficting damage from a hit, this operative can select to use this item. If it does, that enemy operative loses access to all its abilites and unique actions.
6 Honoured Title - Daemon Slayer: Whenever this operative fights or retailiates against DAEMON operatives, its weapons have the Punishing weapon rule.
7 Honoured Title - First To The Fray: This operative has the Move stat of 7".
8 Equipment - Halo Of Soulfire: Each time this operative is removed from the killzone and set up again, inflict 1 damage to each enemy operative within 3" of it.
9 Wargear - Unconventional Methods: In the Set Up operatives step, this operative can select one item of Space Marine wargear. If that wargear is a bolt weapon, it can be affected with any other rules that apply to Storm bolters.
10 Honoured Title - Warp Shaper: Once per turning point, whenever this operative is active, before or after its action, you can change the Tide of Warp.

If a GREY KNIGHT operative was Slain during the Incursion, for the next GREY KNIGHT operative the same player creates during the same Incursion, the Game Master can give the following Honoured Title:

Tribute To Noble Death: Once per scenario, when this operative is Injured, it can perform one of the following actions for free during its activation or counteraction:

  • the Interact action
  • a PSYCHIC action
  • the Shoot action with a PSYCHIC weapon
